Alabama Power issues Lake Conditions Messages

Lake elevations are always subject to change, depending on conditions.
COOSA RIVER
LAKE WEISS Due to locally heavy rainfall, Weiss has risen above normal elevation for this time of year. Expect Weiss to rise near elevation 563 on or about 2/7/10.
NEELY HENRY Due to locally heavy rainfall, spillway gates are open at Henry. Lake elevations are always subject to change, depending on conditions.
LOGAN MARTIN LAKE Due to locally heavy rainfall, spillway gates are open at Logan. Expect Logan Martin to rise near elevation 463 on or about 2/6/10.
LAY LAKE Due to locally heavy rainfall, spillway gates are open at Lay.
LAKE MITCHELL Due to locally heavy rainfall, spillway gates are open at Mitchell.
LAKE JORDAN Due to locally heavy rainfall, spillway gates are open at Jordan.
TALLAPOOSA RIVER
HARRIS (WEDOWEE) Due to locally heavy rainfall, Harris has risen above normal elevation for this time of year. Expect Harris to rise near elevation 788 on or about 2/6/10.
MARTIN Due to locally heavy rainfall, Martin has risen above normal elevation for this time of year. Expect Martin to rise near elevation 487.5 on or about 2/8/10, with potential to rise near elevation 489 by 2/12/10.
THURLOW Thurlow reservoir will be drawn down some 10 feet for an extended period beginning January 6, 2010. Rains could impact this drawdown and lake elevation could vary over the planned drawdown period, set to end March 15, 2010. Individuals with boats and other water-related equipment and facilities should always be alert to changing conditions on Alabama Power reservoirs and be prepared to take the necessary steps to protect their property.
BLACK WARRIOR RIVER
SMITH Due to locally heavy rainfall, Smith is above normal elevation. Expect Smith to rise near elevation 508 on or about 2/8/10.
